Dressed For The Occasion: Dressed for the Occasion was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in the summer of 2010 by Singer Addison Chase, lead guitarist Patrick Hopkins, bassist Alex Ferrero, and Drummer Michael Penney. Addison came to Boston in hopes of completing an acoustic album produced by Hopkins and, in a twist of fate, sparked the wildfire that would come to be known as “Dressed for the Occasion”. With their ground shaking performances, flashy attire, unique and memorable lyrics, and classic rock soul the band’s success grew fast. They began opening for world renowned acts like The Vibrators and The Hudson Falcons, played in clubs throughout the city like The Middle East and TTtheBears, and before long won the “Boston Battle of the Bands” offering a grand prize of a full-day studio session with which they recorded their first full-length album self-titled “Dressed for the Occasion”.

Someone You Used To Know, the debut full length album by North Carolina's Wylie Hunter & The Cazadores is a rock & roll record, pure and simple. A record which would have sounded at home spinning on a turntable in the 1970s, or blaring through a car stereo in the 1990s, or bumping through an iPod's headset today. Its sound and lyricism are timeless, and heartfelt; an homage to rock & roll that came before, and what it has become. "We're a band with a great appreciation for the history of the music we play," says Hunter, the band's front man and songwriter, "from where it started, right up to some of the indie rock that is being made today-that's all part of the same history.” You can hear that history on Someone You Used To Know. The title track observes old love fading into memory, and takes a page from the great anthems of Petty and Springsteen, whereas the tongue-in-cheek "Tattoo'd Girls" would sound right at home on a Rolling Stones B-Side, and songs like "Timebomb" take a darker turn, as Hunter's soulful voice proclaims, "I've been sleeping on the front lawn/I've been working all night just to save my soul." Over the last two years Hunter, joined by guitarist William Taylor, drummer Paul Fisher, and bassist Seth Barden, as Wylie Hunter & The Cazadores have taken their sound to the people. Since self-releasing their EP in August of 2010, the band has toured the East Coast and throughout the Midwest, from Atlanta to New York, Minneapolis to Chicago, sharing stages with bands like Dawes, Benji Hughes, Shovels & Rope, American Aquarium, and Scotland's Admiral Fallow. St. Louis-based music blog Speakers in Code called the band, "Insanely talented, and fast on the rise." Raleigh's Independent Weekly proclaimed, "The crescendos and crashes of songs mirror the peaks and valleys of life...Hunter embodies the youthful exhilaration of his music...excitability and wanderlust...worth watching." Wilmington, NC's Star News called the band, "Brash like Springsteen, and all heart." The band has also been featured on Raleigh's 88.1 WKNC, Richmond's WRIR, and in publications such as Creative Loafing (Atlanta), Richmond Magazine (Richmond), The Vinyl District (New York), and more. Someone You Used To Know was recorded entirely at Arbor Ridge Studios in Chapel Hill by lauded music producers Jeff Crawford & James Wallace, who both make guest appearances on the album as well. The band set to work recording in February of 2011, and slowly and meticulously crafted Someone You Used To Know for over a year.

    Velta

Brooklyn-based power pop trio VELTA will release their first self-titled LP next month with a record release show slated for February 22 at Arlene's Grocery. Following a whirlwind 2012 which saw the release of their second E.P., "Come Alive", and the video for its first single, "Cheat On Me", VELTA are excited to bring a full LP to their growing fanbase. After releasing their first E.P. as a two-piece in 2011, Emmy Wildwood (guitar/vox) and Zach Jones (drums/vox) called upon their dear friend Derek Blauser (bass) to round out the group's sound and bring a welcomed energy shift in the group's dynamics. The result is simple: a raucous live show led by the thunderbolt that is glamorous front woman Emmy Wildwood. Listening to VELTA, the 90s influences are paramount. Inspired by everything from Sonic Youth and Superchunk to Fountains of Wayne and Big Star, VELTA brings a modern, power-pop twist to a classic grunge sound. Lyrically, Wildwood's writing is poignant and eclectic, bringing a playful, tongue-in-cheek attitude to songs that are thick with sarcasm or laden with vulnerability. The LP's first single, "Cheat On Me", puts a playful mask on the heartbreaking tale of trying to escape a passionless relationship. In the video, Wildwood even uses murder as a revenge tactic. In tweaking and perfecting their live show and inner dynamics over the past couple of years, VELTA has garnered unanimous acclaim from fans and critics alike. Emmy Wildwood was featured in September's music-themed issue of Vogue Italia, and the group's very first single, "Dead Ringer", was featured in NYLON Magazine's December mix tape. VELTA has also had the privilege of supporting some of their favorite groups, including Cheap Girls and the Sidekicks. They even found a friend in TV On The Radio's Kyp Malone, who recorded backing vocals for their new single "Let's Get Married." It seems the stars have finally aligned for this trio - now the world just needs to catch up with them.
