Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart: Rebecca Haviland and Chris Anderson met in 2003 after a show at The Red Lion in NYC. Both had graduated from Purchase Conservatory but had never met up until now. In need of a new bass player, Chris Anderson instantly filled the spot, creating a musical bond that would grow over the next 9 years and help to form the material for Rebecca’s 3rd studio album. Chris Anderson has been playing bass Professionally since his early teens. He is a graduate of both the Hartt School of music and the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase. As both an electric and upright bassist he has worked for a wide breadth of songwriters. His playing can be found on numerous television and radio broadcasts as well as dozens of recording sessions resulting in over thirty album credits spanning jazz and popular music. Chris has opened for Roberta Flack and Jonatha Brooke, and has played/recorded with Ingrid Michaelson, Mark Mulcahy, Evan Watson, Ian Axel, Abby Payne and Will Knox. Rebecca Haviland has made music her life. Growing up with a family of musicians, her grandmother began teaching her to sing and play piano at the age of 4. After graduating from Purchase Conservatory in 2003, Rebecca released her 1st studio album entitled, “Taking Advice From Strangers,” recorded at Acme Studios in Mamaroneck, NY and produced by Peter Denenberg (Spin Doctors) Joe Bonadio (Marc Cohn, Martin Sexton). She can also be found as a backing vocalist on over 25 different recordings, and as a musician/vocalist with Evan Watson, The Greg Mayo Band, Hurrah! A Bolt Of Light, and Laura Warshauer. In early 2011, with a desire to pursue their own project, Rebecca and Chris began writing the songs that would form her 3rd studio album. Yet to be titled, the record is a collection of songs written in the stylings of Ryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne, self produced by Rebecca and Chris and recorded full band, live in the studio with Todd Caldwell on Hammond B3 (Crosby Stills & Nash), Rich Hinman on pedal steel and electric guitar (Rosanne Cash, Ben Kweller), and Kenny Shaw on drums (Abby Payne, Hurrah! A Bolt Of Light). It includes the singles, “Collide With Me,” and, “It’s Not Wrong.” For more information, please sign the mailing list on the home page.

    Mel Flannery Trucking Co.

A few years back, when Melanie Flannery graduated from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music as a jazz performance major, the classically trained singer could have taken the easy road and accepted various offers to record and perform as a standards singer. Opting instead to take the more challenging but creatively fulfilling route of forming her own band, Mel Flannery Trucking Co., the multi-talented singer/songwriter and her brilliant all-male trio forged ahead with an organic, eclectic sound that has shaken the foundation of New York’s independent music scene. Appealing coolly to everyone from punk rock lovers to jazz aficionados and fans of sultry, envelope pushing pop/rock, the band fashions a tasty new hybrid Flannery dubs “avant-soul” on their upcoming third album As It Turns Out. Driven by her tear-your-heart-in-two ballads and her insightful, clever songwriting, Mel Flannery Trucking Company—which includes keyboardist and Flannery’s frequent co-writer Lee Pardini, bassist Matt Aronoff and drummer Danny Sher—has been a mainstay on the NYC scene since forming in 2003, playing hip venues like Joe’s Pub, The Cutting Room, The Bitter End, Cornelia Street Café and Rockwood Music Hall. Beyond their home base, they’ve performed in Nashville at The Rutledge and B.B. King’s and last year, the group headed west to play at Genghis Cohen in L.A. and several venues in the Bay Area. Flannery and Company are planning a Northeast tour for mid-March and will hit the Coast again with more shows in the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe region. They are a Sonicbid’s “I Am Sonicbids” artist and were a nominee for Best Song at the Just Plain Folks Awards in 2009.

  • Bubble

    Bubble

Dave Foster, Tom DeVito and Russ Alderson formed in 1994 as Bubble on NYC's Lower East Side, out of the legendary anti-folk movement that spawned everyone from Beck to the Moldy Peaches. They released their eponymous EP in 1995 to critical praise (compared to Oasis and Blur as well as Weezer and friends The Presidents of the United States of America) and decent college airplay (incl. frequent appearances live on WFMU). Following up in 2000 with the full-length "Bash Bish"produced by Fred Smith of Television), with Russ Alderson and Matt Lindsey on bass, Rich Feridun on guitar and Jon Spurney on keys and guitar. More critical praise and college radio followed. Dave then took a break to record his debut solo CD "Blue Circle", released in 2007. In 2009 Bubble released "Seconds". Currently they are in the studio with producer Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu) recording their 3rd full length album.
